GENEALOGY |
Carroll County was formed in 1826 from land ceded by the Creek Indians. Original Carroll County included the former Creek Indian Land lying North and West of the Chattahoochee River and was bounded on the North by Cherokee Land and stretched South to West Point. It was about 40 miles wide and 100 miles long. Population in 1850 was 8,256 with 1,101 slaves. The County takes it's name from Charles Carroll, one of the Signers of the Declaration of Independence.
