Neal Family Cemetery
On Florence Road (house address is 8196 Zion Road), Douglas-Carroll
County, Ga., line.

Many of the tombstones were destroyed by a paper milling company,
according to the residents in 1978.
1. Frances Stephen (sic), wife of Valentine Burnett, Feb.
17, 1810-March 14, 1838 (Note: Frances Stephens married Valentine
Burnett in Henry Co., Ga., Jan 7, 1827)
2. (Marker not found for her husband. In 1971 Dr. Carolyn
Ward found this marker: V.B. Burnett, Oct. 3, 1795-Sept. 13,
1854. Burnett moved to Carroll Co. from Rutherford Co., N.C.
His first wife, married in North Carolina, died in the mid-1820s.
His third wife, Mary Dover, 1820-May 20, 1887, is bd. at Flint
Hill Church in south Douglas Co.)

1840-Sept. 10, 1864
4. Mary E., wife of B.F. McKoy, Dec. 25, 1834-June 4, 1915,
"mother" (Note: Daughter of Stephen H. Neal)
5. Benjamin Franklin McKoy, May 14, 1828-Sept. 1, 1886, "father,"
"A true Democrat" (Note: Son of Thomas McKoy Jr., 1804-1865,
buried Douglas Co., place unknown; grandson of Thomas McKoy Sr.,
Oct. 15, 1770-Sept. 27, 1846, bd. McKoy Cemetery, Hwy. 166 at
Smith Ferry Road, south Douglas Co. Thomas Sr. was a native of
Campbell Co., Virginia.)

Co., Ga., whose descendants moved to south Douglas Co.)
11. Elizabeth, second wife of J.P. Watson, Jan. 20, 1827-March
2, 1869 (Note: John Pendleton Watson m. Elizabeth Goolsby, Campbell
Co., Ga., Nov. 24, 1842; he is bd. at New Hope Baptist Church,
Chapel Hill, Douglas Co.)
12. Phreby Burnett (No dates. Possibly the wife of Benjamin
M. Burnett, b. 1802, of Carroll Co.)
13. "Endsley" marker covered up, according to residents
in 1978.
14. Marker not found, but known to be buried here: Stephen
H. Neal, Jan. 9, 1804-will of 1895, Carroll Co. He married 1st,
Franklin Co., Ga., 1828, Laura Malone, who apparently died in
Texas in 1849.
15. Marker not found, but known to be buried here: Mary Burnett,
wife of Stephen H. Neal, Jan. 15, 1824-March 24, 1917. She was
a daughter of Valentine Burnett. Stephen and Mary Burnett Neal's
son John H. Neal, b. 1852, moved to Texas c. 1927. The Neal home
adjacent the cemetery was said by residents to have been built
c. 1858.
