I Gideon Whitted of the County and State afore said, being of sound and disposing mind and memory but being in delicate health and knowinth the inconsistency of human life and being desirous of having my worldly goods and property disposed of to my own chosing and liking, do therefore make, ordain and publish in this writing my last will and testament.

ITEM THE FIRST: I deligate my mind to God who gave it and my will and desire is that my body be inclosed in a plain and suitable coffin without any pomp or ____________.

ITEM THE SECOND: I will and bequeath to my daughter Elizabeth Gwynn one dollar in addition to what I have to fore given her and no more.

ITEM THE THIRD: I will and bequeath to my daughter Mary Gwynn a certain negro fellow slave by the name of Peter but my said daughter Mary is not to receive said negro nor his services until after the death of my wife Mary Whitted unless my wife should in time marry again and in that event my daughter Mary Gwynn should take said negro fellow Peter into possession as soon thereafter as may be convenient for her. So to say after the intermarriage of my wife, Mary Whitted.

ITEM THE FOURTH: I will and bequeath to my son William Whitted one dollar in money in addition to what I have heree to fore given him and no more.

ITEM THE FIFTH: I will and bequeath to my daughter Nancy Gwynn one dollar in money in addition to what I have here to fore given her and no more.

ITEM THE SIXTH: I will and bequeath to my son Davis _________ Whitted one dollar in money in addition to what I have here to fore given him and no more.

ITEM THE SEVENTH: I will and bequeath to my daughter Margaret Neal one dollar in money in addition to what I have here to fore given her and no more.

ITEM THE EIGHTH: I will and bequeath to my daughter Jemima King two negro slaves to wit, a negro girl by the name of Jinny about eight years old, a boy by the name of Henry about nine years old to have and to hold said willed and bequeathed negroes to have and ________

ITEM THE NINETH: I will and bequeath to my daughter Julia Smith a negro boy the name of __________ about six years old in addition to what I have here to fore given her. This said negro boy

ITEM THE TENTH: I will and bequeath to my wife Mary Whitted, after paying all my just debts and paying off the other legatees the amount in money that I have willed them in this my last will and testament __________ the _____________ of my property of every kind without exception but except the following named negroes. To wit Peter, a negro fellow and Elizabeth a negro woman and her child by the name of Madison which said several negroes to wit Peter, Elizabeth and Madison and Elizabeths increase if she should have any I leave to my wife Mary Whitted during her natural life for so long as she may remain my widow for her own proper use and benefit and at her death or intermarriage, the said negroes and their increase if any are to be equally divided between my two daughters July Smith and ___________ King that is Elizabeth & Madison. And Peter is to go and be the property of Mary Gwynn agreeable to the third item ________my last will and testament.

ITEM THE ELEVENTH: For the purpose of conveying this my last will and testament into effect that I ___________my last clause.

Hereby constitute and appoint my wife Mary Whitted and my friend and son-in-law William Smith executors to this my last will and testament. In witness whereof I have the nineteenth day of May in the year of our Lord Eighteen Hundred Thirty Four subscribed my name and affixed my seal to this my last will and testament revoking all other former wills, Deeds of Gift, Powers of Attorney and all other instruments of writing that may be in contradiction or effect this will.

Personally appeared in open court Mary Whitted and William Smith the executors named in the will of Gideon Whitted Decd and were qualified as the law directs, this the 4th day of May 1835.
