Sarah Paty 1836 Deed

As far as I can tell this Sarah Paty has sold some land in DeKalb County GA to Harrison Camp, who resides in Floyd County GA. Mr. Camp was formerly living in Campbell County GA and is listed in census records. I cannot identify for certain which Sara Paty this is but will give my opinion. Not all deeds gave this much information as to the residence of the persons named. There are several counties involved here and all are named. Without this information it is not possible to know where anyone named in a document lived unless there is some other primary record to support it.

This Sarah may be the widow of Miles who was the son of Elijah. There is a land record for Lot 251, Sarah Paty w [widow] Gillis [Subdivision] DeKalb [County] Georgia. 1840 GA DeKalb census lists Sarah Pady w [widow] on page 28. The 1850 GA DeKalb census lists John F. Bellinger, Sarah and three of her daughters, step-children and children of this second marriage.

This Ballenger info is also verified in the Collier [Sarah's maiden name] family research which is online. I supplied them with Sarah's first husband's name and his parent's names, even though there was a clue to that in the census record itself which named her daughters. Sarah's other daughter was Sarah J. and there is a marriage record for her to Elisha S. Johnson and they lived in Cherokee County, AL, listed in the census records there. The only way I kept up with Miles is that he had only daughters. His brother William only had sons.
