Magruder Fears – The Plant Broke
Margruder Fears tried to walk a plant at the Smith’s Mill picnic on last Saturday that lay across the race. He made two or three successful steps and the fickle plant broke, The next seen of him was the pink part of his nose, just above low water mark, and his fingers scrapping deeply in the soft bank of the stream. It was remarkable by one or two of he oldest inhabitants that Magruder’s fingerprints would linger in the bank until the next winter freshets.
