GEORGIA � Butts County
This indenture this the third day of January in the year of our Lord one
thousand eight hundred and sixty five between Edward H. Henry of the County of
Jasper and State aforesaid of the one part and W. R. Bankston, of this County
of Butts and state aforesaid of the other part. Witnesseth that the said
Edward of Henry for and in consideration of the sum of one thousand dollars to
him in hand paid at and before the sealing and delivery of these presents the
receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged hath granted bargained and sold and
doth by these presents grant bargain sell and convey unto the said Wm. R.
Bankston his heirs and assigns all that tract or parcel of land situate lying
and being in the town of Jackson, the same being the place whereon the said
Edward H. Henry formerly lived in said Town boundaries on the west by lot
whereon said Wm R. Bankston now lives, East by lot owned by D. W. Patterson,
and the Jail lot, and North and South by streets containing five acres more or
less. To have and to hold said tract or parcel of land unto him the said Wm.
R. Bankston his heirs and assigns to his and their own proper use benefit and
behoof forever in simple, and the said Edward H. Henry for himself his heirs
and assigns the said tract or parcel of land unto the said Wm. R. Bankston his
heirs and assigns will warrant and forever defend the right and title to the
same against the claim of all persons whatever. In witness whereof this said
Edward H. Henry has hereunto set his hand and seal the day and year above
written.
