This indenture made and entered into this fourteenth day of December in the year of our Lord Eighteen Hundred and Forty, between Abner Bankston of said County of the one part and William Fuller of Richmond county and State and Alexander Ragland of Morgan County and State. Stage Contractors using the firm name & style of Fuller & Ragland of the other part. Witnesseth that for and in consideration of this sum of one dollar to the said Abner Bankston in hand paid, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledges also for the further consideration that the said fuller & Ragland shall cause to be built upon the premises herein after mentioned a stable capable of containing sixteen horses & a log cabin for an osler (*) residence � all at their expense � except the timber necessary to construct the same which they are at liberty to cut as the lands adjoining said premises of said Abner Bankston he the said Abner Bankston doth lease hereby to the said Fuller & Ragland and their assigns two acres of land being part of the lot whereas William Lyons now lives in the county of Butts aforesaid through which two acres passes the public road leading from the Indian Springs to Phillips Bridge on the Towaliga River, being about equally divided by said road, more particular land in acks (?) from the date the first day of July eighteen hundred and forty three, free from all rent charge and after the said last mentioned period the said Fuller & Ragland are to have the right to retain the possession of said premises to themselves or to their assign for the purpose of keeping a stable for stage horses. As is more the design & of furnishing a hand for an osler (*) upon the payment of sixty dollars annually to the said Abner Bankston his heirs executors & administrators and the said Abner Bankston doth hereby covenant to the said Fuller & Ragland & their assigns to do and perform the matters & things so herein stipulated & contains in his part and for which he binds himself his heirs executors & administrators formed by these presents. In witness whereof the said Abner Bankston hath hereunto set his hand & seal the day & year first above written in presence of:

Should Fuller & Ragland not want to rent the said stable &e, after this contract said Bankston has the privilege of renting to any person he may think proper but as to the use of Fuller & Ragland, they can have as specified.

olster (*) - Holster-- A groom who took care of horses, often at an inn The "H" is probably silent and the clerk spelled it without the "H".

Before me Charles S. Jordan a justice of the Inferior Court in and for said County appeared in person Emial Doolittle, one of the subscribing witnesses to the foregoing deed of lease who being duly sworn saith that he saw Abner Bankston sign seal & deliver the same for the purposes therein expressed, and that Daniel Cardin and James S. Bankston deponasit(?) subscribed the same as witnesses in the presence of each other. Sworn to and subscribed before me this 15th June 1841
