The Smith Cemetery is located in the eastern part of the county, close to Jackson Lake, beside a residence and is no longer in use.
An Indenture dated 7 Jan 1901 between John h. KEY, of the County of Jasper and Joseph R. Wright of the County of Butts in Book 5, page 502 of the Butts Co. land records states:
Reserving at the place on said described land, where the said Austin G. Smith and his wife are buried, a spot of land twenty by twenty feet to include the graves of Austin G. Smith and his wife.
It is marked with four pillar shaped fieldstone's at the corners. There may be other graves than those listed but no evidence is visible.
Take GA 36 East, 8.5 miles to Barnett Bridge Rd and turn right. Follow the Road for 1.5 miles to Reeves Rd. and turn left. Go .3 miles to Arrow Point Rd. and turn right, and go .1 miles to Tussahaw Point Drive and turn right. Follow this road for 1.1 miles to Quail Trail & turn left. The Cemetery is .3 miles on Right.
