J. G. McDonald (Butts County, GA)

J. G. McDonald

Mr. J. G. McDonald, the blear-eye subject of this sketch associated himself with me a year ago under false pretenses.  He claimed among other things to have some common sense, which I find absolutely not so.  He is spending a life in vain effort to be a dude, and it would bring a smile over the face of a graven image to see him strolling out with a woman's wrap on him, which Bob Etheridge passed off to him for an overcoat.  He had rather die than to work, and is so constituted that he spends about four dollars every time he earns one.  If he has any ability of any description he has managed to keep it concealed, and his best friends often blush at his stupidity.  If there is a business in this world which want a man to spend money for them, sleep two thirds of his time, and sit down and growl the balance of the day and smoke cigarettes, I can furnish the man and will do so free of charge; or if any one has any old shoes or a few old rags, I will give them the junior and the market price of their stuff to boot.
