"CEMETERIES AND MORE"   (Edition June 2007)

The Brantley County Historical Society takes pride in its participation with GAGENWEB, providing on-line free burial information on over 60 Brantley County in commercial, weed and fire ant infested cemeteries, covering over 11,000 burials.

As a non-profit Historical Society we have the obligation to provide this information to our public which does not possess computers.  We have also discovered that even our computer customers want paper books.

Our Cemeteries and More book lists over 11, 000 burials in what is now Brantley County, with burials being complete through December 2006.  It also expands the normal cemetery format to include the father's name, mother's name, and the spouse's name.   The book is 8 1/2 inches by 11 1/2 inches (474 pages).

OBITUARIES AND MORE (First Edition, soft cover):  In the fall of 2003, Mrs. Dorothy Johns Thomas finalized a personal project of creating a 335 page booklet containing almost 1,000 obituaries and stores of deceased persons in Brantley County.  It includes some obituaries dating back to 1800s, those recorded during the early days of Brantley County (1920s and early 1930s), as well as deaths in more recent years.  Obituaries are easy to find in Obituaries and More.  Its index contains surnames and given names, arranged in alphabetical order for easy reference.  This spiral ring direct image booklet has been published by The Brantley County Historical Society to make your genealogical research easier, and is available in a soft back cover at the Nahunta Library.
