John B. Holton, age 65, passed away Sunday, May 8,
2005 at his residence under the care of hospice.
He was a native of Coffee County, and lived the past
35 years in Liberty County. He was a U.S. Army
veteran. He worked the past 35 years for Coastal EMC
as a foreman. He was a member of the Hinesville
Masonic Lodge, the Scottish Rite and Alee Temple in
Savannah. He was of the Baptist Faith.
Survivors include his wife, Hazel P. Holton of Midway;
two sons, Joe Holton of Midway and Luke Herrington of
Alma; two daughters, Rhonda Geer of Midway and Julie
Goll of Japan; three brothers, Leon Holton, Jr. and
Buddy Holton of Midway and Quincy Holton of Cummings;
six sisters, Abby Martinez and Lavada Sweat of
Waycross, Lillie Mae Taylor, Betty Nettles and Marie
Hutchinson of Nicholls, Virginia Cooper of West
Green and six grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, May
13, 2005 at Carter Funeral Home Oglethorpe Chapel with
Rev. Dennis Bryant and Rev. Neal Smith officiating.
Burial will be in Daniel Baptist Church cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Kenny Holton, Larry Holton, Ricky
Holton, Curtis Sapp, Kyle Butler and Walter Burns.
Carter Funeral Home Oglethorpe Chapel is in charge of
the arrangements.
