Thomas Edwin Eason, 52, died Wednesday at Appling General
Hospital from injuries he received in a logging accident.
According to the Appling County Sheriff's Department,
Eason was working alongside a log trailer when another
worker lost control of a logging vehicle. The vehicle
rolled against the trailer, pinning Eason between the two
pieces of equipment.
The accident occurred about 9:15 a.m.
Wednesday two and one-half miles from Baxley on Ten Mile
Road, the sheriff's department spokesman said.
Eason was a
lifelong resident of Appling County and a member of Bible
Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Helen W.
Eason of Baxley; a daughter, Mrs. Rita Tomberlind of
Baxley; two sons, Billy K. and Steve Eason, both of
Baxley; six sisters, Mrs. Navona Lamb, Mrs. Pauling McCall
and Mrs. Bonnie Youmans, all of Baxley; Mrs. Nellie Mae
Stanfield of Surrency, Mrs. Inez Wade of Jacksonville,
Fla., and Mrs. Imelda Sorrell of Waycross; two brothers,
Talmadge Eason of Baxley and Harold Eason of Atlanta and
three grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Friday
at 3 p.m. at Bible Baptist Church with burial in Bethel
United Methodist Church Cemetery.

Baxley is in charge.
