Uncle George W. Crosby died at the home of his daughter, Vicey Land in Graham last Monday, January 14th at two o'clock a. m. He was 70 years old and was the last member of a large family.His grandmother moved to this county from Barnwell, S.C. in Feb. 1928 and settled where Mr. J.J. Miles now lives. He was a brother of Judge S. A. Crosby, Berry W. Crosby, H.J. Crosby, and Stephen Crosby, who were killed in the War at Johnson's Island, S.C. in 1862. He also has four sisters, Mrs. Bryant Leggett, Mrs. Dave Leggett, Mrs. John B. Johnson, and Mrs. Lewis Hall. He was married in 1868 to Miss Mariah Hall who died some 10 years ago. They raised a large family, five boys and seven girls. Among his sons is R.W. Crosby a prominent turpentine operator of Graham. Uncle Geo. was known as a hard working honorable man.
