A beautiful but quiet home wedding taking place at the home of the bride's
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Williams, on Wednesday, was that of Miss Joyce
Williams and Mr. W. A. Melvin, Jr., both of this city. The wedding was
something in the nature of a pleasant surprise to the many friends of the
contracting parties. The house was beautifully and artistically decorated
for the occasion, and the ceremony, which was performed by Rev. Rollo J.
Mincey, took place in the parlor in the presence of only intimate friends
and relatives.
Miss Williams is the beautiful and accomplished daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Joe Williams, who by her many womanly virtues has won the
admiration and affection of a large circle of friends, and is worthy in
every respect to love and affection of the home over which she is to
preside.
Mr. Melvin, who has only recently made Baxley his home comes from
one of the best and most influential families in Fort Valley. He is the
superintendent of the city electric light plant and since making his home
in this place has won the esteem and confidence of all those with whom he
is associated.
The News-Banner joins the many friends of this couple in
extending heartist congratulations and best wishes for a long life of
happiness.
