260. Stewart Herbert Judge was born in 1721. He died on Oct 10 1778 in Leacock Presbyterian Cemetery, Lancaster County, Paradise, Pennsylvania. He was buried in Leacock Township, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. Ref: James McCurley letter, 7 Feb, 1963.

Probate: Will dated 27 Sep 1778, Probated 4 Nov 1778. Will-C-1-545. Listed sister Margaret, wife of Peter Dello. Children: Stewart (b.1754) Capt.- Washington co.,Md.; Daniel(b.1760); Elizabeth(b.1762) m. Wm. Whitehill abt 1780-1783; Moses(B.1765) Alleg. Co. 1790; Jane(B.1767).

Probate: Ref: Leacock Presbyterian Church, p.14. Stewart Herbert had land in Leacock Twp. in the Mill Creek Valley as early as 1756. He and his wife, Sidney, died in 1778 and are buried here.

Ref: History of Lancaster Co. by Evans says Thomas Herbert, also distinguished in the war, was a son, though he is not mentioned in the will. Jacob Herbert, also not mentioned in the will was probably also a son. The family left the neighbohood during or directly after the revolutionary war. Stewart Jr. lived in Washington County, Maryland, in 1790, and in the same year, Moses was in Allegheny county, Pa.

Land: Ref: History of Lancaster County, Pa. Vol.1 & 2 by Ellis Evans 1883. On Dec.31,1778, ninety-three acres of the Herbert farm, in Mill Creek Valley, was sold to James Clemson, of Salisbry, the same having been patented to Stewart Herbert in 1756.(Philadelphia Patent Book A, Vol.19,p.167.)

261. Sidney McDill was born in 1721 in Leacock Township, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. She died on Apr 18 1778 in Leacock Township, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. Occupation: Per James McCurley letter, 7 Feb. 1963: moved to Hagerstown in 1784. Operated printing press in Lancaster (city), Pa. in 1774-1775. Was first editor and printer and printer in Hagerstown, Md. (Scharf, p.1144)

Ref: Book, "Leacock Presbyterian Church", p.14; mentions that the Herberts left Leacock Twp. during or after the Revolutionary War and that Moses was in Allegheny County, Pa.
