Ron Brown.

The passing of the Society's photographer, Ron Brown. A quiet, likeable gentleman in the truest sense of the word, Ron's great talent produced some fine pictures for us. Ron will be greatly missed. His enthusiasm was always catching and his love of the Old Parish Church was
reflected in his work. To dear Jean, who to some of us was always known as "Lady Ron" we extend our heartfelt sympathy for her great loss. The Chairman, Vice-chairman and her
husband Noel attended Ron's funeral at St Michael's and All Angels, Houghton-le-Spring. The huge turn out of people spoke volumes for the high regard and love in which this unique individual was held. Rest in Peace, dear Ron.

Gordon Fraser

The death of our member Gordon Fraser on 7th July. We extend to Gordon's family our sincere condolences.

X

Bobbie Bowler

The death of our honorary member Bobbie Bowler (Bobbie Armstrong) on May 31st in Sydney Australia. Bobbie was thrilled to be part of the society and was looking forward to keeping in touch through the newsletters etc. Unfortunately, this was not to be. Sincere sympathy to her family. Bobbie's ashes have returned to her native Sunderland, early in September (2003) and an act of remembrance took place in her beloved Parish Church.

HOW TO REMEMBER

We can shed tears that they are gone
Or we can smile because they have lived.
We can close our eyes and pray that they will come back
Or we can open our eyes and see all they have left.
Our hearts can be empty because we can’t see them
Or we can be full the love which we shared.
We can turn our backs on tomorrow and live yesterday
Or we can be happy for tomorrow because of yesterday.
We can remember them and only that they have gone
Or we can cherish their memory and let it live on.
We can cry and close our minds, be empty and turn our backs,
Or we can do what they would want; smile, open our eyes, love and go on.
