Millview Cemetery

This Black cemetery is located in the woods, about 0.2 miles south of the Marcus Creek Bridge, to the east side of Blue Angel Parkway - - formerly called Millview Cutoff Road. Look for a narrow dirt road to find this sprawling cemetery. Some graves were reported to be found on the west side of this highway but were not found on a cursory search. Some gravestones were reportedly covered or destroyed during the 1980's re-paving of Blue Angel Parkway. There are numerous slabs and headstones here, but less than half have names. Also there were several depressions in the area and reportedly there were many other graves in the woods although none could be found. The first burial was in 1899.

This cemetery was surveyed by Evan R. Strohl in May of 1985. At that time, pastor Elijah JOHNSON, pastor of the nearby St. Paul's Baptist Church supplied some of the information found in brackets.

If anyone has further information on the people buried in this cemetery, please contact Evan Strohl.
