CUG Meeting on Wednesday September 30, 2017

Several things have changed during the summer. RootsMagic finally was updated to link to and show hints. The Family Tree Maker 2017 update was released and the link to is back. In addition, FTM 2017 now links to and provides hints.

So, for the September Meeting, we will review RootsMagic and Family Tree Maker 2017 and highlight the changes in each application. We will also review the methods needed to create a GEDCOM file and transfer our data from one application to the other.

The Computer Users' Group meets at 1 PM on the third Wednesday of the month in Room 221 at the Cooper Memorial Library. Our goal for 2017 is to provide information for beginners in using the computer and the internet to gather and organize their family history. I strongly encourage beginners to come to the meeting with their most pressing concerns regarding the use of computers. All computer assistance and training is with the Windows operating system and by now, you should be using windows 10. Does window 10 make it easier or harder for you to use you computer applications and programs? We can help. Most of our group use Family Tree Maker and, are you getting the maximum benefits from this software, if not, we can help. If you haven't even started using a Genealogy program, we can help you find the right one.
