At McChapel Cemetery, in Marianna, Jackson County, Florida, there are two graves that I can identify. They are close to Charlie Brunson, who is my father (born July 6, 1903, died August 1975).
If you stand at head of his headstone, immediately to the left is a tree, immediately to the right is the grave of Mattie Lou Fluker, who was his aunt on his daddy's (Dudley Brunson); immediately to her right is the grave of her husband, Sheridan Fluker. This was told to me by her grandson, Johnnie Robinson who resides in Ft. Lauderdale.
My father and his brother (R.C. Brunson) came to live with Mattie Lou Fluker in Malone, Florida, sometime before 1920 after his father died in Quincy, Gadsden County, Florida. Dudley was a supposedly a horse trader/tanner in Gadsden County, and married Lizzie Dixon in 1901; however the 1900 census records have them listed as husband and wife, but the Gadsden County marriage records have them being married on March 28, 1901. They do not appear in the 1910 census, but my father and brother are in the 1920 census. They are listed as the grandsons of Mattie Lou "Flucus", but they were actually her nephews. Mattie Lou had six daughters, 4 which are still living (Elvie Robinson, Lovee Fluker, Ruby Worrell and Gladys Bryant). One daughter Audrey Fluker Hollis recently passed on January 7, 2001 and is buried in Southside Cemetery in Tallahassee, Leon County, Florida.
Supposedly, my father had other siblings (boys -- Eddie, Frank, Amos; sisters -- Frances and Mattie) and maybe an half-sister, Gracie Keys or Keyes. Gracie is now deceased, but I am not sure when.
If you have any questions, please let me know.
