MONTHLY MEETING SCHEDULE:
12:00 to 2:00 pm -- The Internet Genealogy Group
2:00 pm -- Monthly Meeting and Presentation
The Internet Group is meeting in Classroom A on the 2nd floor of the Library. There are 20 computers for your use in the room! It will again be open from 12 to 2 for research on the Internet. You will have free access to Heritage Quest, Ancestry and ProQuest. All you need is your Free Nova Library card! You can get that at the main desk on the first floor of the Library.
As always Brenda Feuer will be the moderator of the Internet Group (IG) which meets at 12:00 noon followed by a short break and the monthly meeting begins at 2:00 pm. It's a great way to share tips, ask questions and learn how the Internet can help you in your genealogical research.

USE OF COMPUTERS IN RECORDING YOUR
GENEALOGICAL FINDINGS
We at the GSBC thought
it might be beneficial to explore the use of computers in recording
genealogical information and demonstrate how this can be done effectively and
easily. We have chosen the software package Family Tree Maker because of
its general overall use and ease of access to the internet. We will be exploring
the basic use of Family Tree Maker and how to retrieve and record various
source documents for ease of future reference. A simple demonstration of not
only how to retrieve a source document but how to copy these documents and file
them within Family Tree Maker so that your records are organized and easily
retrievable. This process also cuts down on the amount of paper that one
would normally use. Also consider that any database can easily be shared
with other genealogists of your choosing as well. So please come and share
ideas, thoughts and experiences with GSBC and the use of Family Tree Maker. David

Researching Your Revolutionary War Patriot

Have you ever wondered
if a Revolutionary War patriot ancestor could be hidden in your family tree?
Perhaps you are eligible to join the Daughters of the American Revolution
(DAR) or the Sons of the American Revolution (SAR), and you don’t even realize
it. If you would like to find out, this workshop is for you!!
Debbie Duay, Ph.D. has
over ten years of experience in genealogy. She is the Lineage Research
Chairman for the Florida State Society DAR. Through Debbie’s research
skills, her husband Ted has proven his descent from 38 Revolutionary War
patriots, a Mayflower passenger, a Jamestowne ancestor, King Edward I of
England, and Charlemagne. Debbie has helped over 200 people join the DAR
and SAR, and her free genealogy tutorials “Researching Your Patriot Ancestor” http://www.learnwebskills.com/patriot and “Researching Your Family Tree” http://www.learnwebskills.com/family receive more than 75 visitors each day.
