Clearwater Historical Society: Clearwater Bombers Day
Clearwater Bombers Day
For the first time ever, the Clearwater Historical
Society sponsored a "CLEARWATER BOMBERS DAY" at the Historic Plumb
House Museum, 1380 Martin Luther King, Jr. Avenue, Clearwater. From
10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 6th, several players
from the 10 time World Champion Clearwater Bombers Softball Team were
on hand to greet and visit with the Plumb House visitors.
They answered questions, posed for pictures and recalled
stories of the glory days of some of Clearwaters most famous
sports figures. Some of the former Bombers who were on hand for
this very special occasion were Joe Everett, Manager (1962-63) and 2nd
base (1952-55), Harry "Jughead" Hancock, catcher and right field
(1941-63) and "Junie" Trombly 2nd base (1946- 51).Others who attended may be seen
in the photos included in the C.H.S. web site. A full Clearwater Bomber history exhibit was
extended at our museum to run through the date of this important event. The next exhibit will feature the history of education in Clearwater.
