FYI the Library of Congress has contacted me (LaViece) that what has been collected for the Village and in my moonshine book, is the most they are aware of for southern moonshine operations. We have had stock car drivers from France visit us, and several famous American and Canadian stock car drivers since we have been given the equipment used to make the m/shine cars run fast by Dub Sands. We are making permanent displays of the historic era, quotes and drawings illustrating the stories they have left behind. We are excited to project our citizens who took part in the operations in the early turn of the century as doing moonshine to feed and clothe their families. Then we will present the greed that came into being during the 1960-70 era. We will attempt to show how the men and women who served time for evading income tax learned to read and write in prison and went on to hold respectable employment. Also, we will show Mount Vernon as a place even George Washington made moonshine. I think the museum will be unique and different. Therefore hopefully not only relics, but donations will be sent to help in its development.
