Commissioners Court June 14th 1852
At an adjourned
regular Meeting of the third of May Present Wm J.
Turner, Wm H. Brooks and A.M.
Caston President and proceeded to business ---
Order 1st
We the board of County Commissioners grant permission to Samuel
Russell to remove the old Court House and the two Jury rooms from
the public Square provided he removes and clears off all the rubbish and
rotten stuff that may fall from tearing down ---
Order 2nd
It is further ordered that on the Belemy road leading from Newnansville
to the Santafee at the Natural Bridge that Samuel
R. Piles, Wm Harn and James
Pendarvis are hereby appointed Commissioners of said road.
On the road leading from Newnansville to Fort Fanning to the County Line,
John B. Standley, Samuel
Russell and Hardy Polk are hereby appointed
Commissioners of said road. On the road leading from Newnansville
to Wacahoota G.U. Ellis, Eli
Ramsey and Frances McDonald are hereby
appointed Commissioners of said road. Commissioners are instructed
to take Mrs Zilphy Standleys hands and all
other hands that live within a mile of the road, except Cornelius
Rein’s hands, who is a Commissioner on the Fort Harley Road.
On the road leading from Newnansville to Black Creek to the County line,
David Jones, Thomas
Green, and Stephen Fagan are appointed
Commissioners of said road. Commissioners are instructed to take
from Newnansville G.M. Galpins hands, E.
Barrows hands, Lemuel Wilson’s, J.G.
Dell’s, R.. Ault’s, T.J.
Prevatt’s, A.M. Caston’s, G.L.
Brown’s, W.W. Scott’s, C.F.
Fitchet’s, I.J. Carter’s, Samuel
Baxley’s, David Ridought’s, B.M.
Dell’s, and all other hands on the North side of said road to the
County line. And all others on the South side not designated to work
the Belemy Road. On the Belemy Road leading from Newnansville to
Pilatka to the County line, Madison Sparkman,
Tho’s Holder and H.C.
Wilson are appointed Road Commissioners of said road. Commissioners
are instructed to take the hands of James Hague,
Tho’s Love, Benj. Warren,
Joseph Holder, J.G.
Brooks, Robert Burton, John
Celon, Michel Kirkland, John
Wiggins, William Johns and John
Sparkman. On the road leading from Fort Harlee to Micanopy,
M.S. Perry, Peter Sparkman,
Stephen Sparkman are appointed Commissioners
on said road. Commissioners are instructed to take the hands of Dr.
Geiger, Wm Lancaster, James
Turner, Benj. Mills, Wm
Lavine, Madison Weeks, Mintus
Croxton, M.M. Carol, Holdin,
Frances Shanon, John
S. Perry, Dempsey Blake, J.
Zetrour, John Keneda, Hookus
Wm & John, Jasper Guthrey, Abram
Guthrey, James Flynn, Henry
Adams, Mrs. Williams, Parson
King, Beckham, James
Fennel, E. Parish, D.
Howard, F. Desha, and all others in
the District not designated on any other road. On the road leading
from Micanopy to Pearson’s Springs from the fork with the Black Creek Road
near Micanopy to the County, Wm H. Carpenter,
James H. Secrest and Wm
J. Turner are appointed Commissioners on said road. Commissioners
are instructed to take the hands from the forks of the road near Micanopy
not designated on any other road. On the road leading from the County
line in the Tuscawillow Hammock through Micanopy by Dr.
Harrison’s Plantation and Hope Colson’s,
into the Wacahoota Road near Ramsey’s, R.S.
Stoughton, Dr. G.B. Payne and Hope
Colson are appointed Commissioners, and are also appointed Commissioners
on the road leading from Micanopy to Flemmington to the County line, also
the road from Feasters to the County line
near Wacahoota, embracing the hands of Co’l Lightner,
Town of Micanopy, and all other hands near these roads not designated on
any other road ---
Order
3rd It is further ordered that the County Treasurer Collect all the notes
due the County in his hands instantly to meet the next payment for finishing
the Court House, to S.W. Burnett who has the
Contract to finish said House ---
Order 4th
It is further ordered that the County Treasurer pay to Wm
J. Turner, Wm H. Brooks County Commissioners
and A.M. Caston Judge of Probate, and C.L.
Wilson Sheriff two dollars each for their services this day
