Descendants of Mary Ann Fay
(Sixth Generation)

According to the Herrick book, Mary's husband was "Rev. George G. Dains, A. M., who grad. at Wesleyan Univ., Middletown, Conn., 1858; Meth. clerg., but engaged mainly in teaching. Res. Antwerp, Jefferson co., N. Y." After Mary's early death in 1866, George remarried; he and Celestia are in the census of 1870 with a son Frank, and Mary's son George. George married and moved from New York to Kentucky or moved and then married; his daughter Clara was born in Kentucky. George Herrick died young; by 1910, Emma is a widow, and has returned home to Ohio. Clara is with her in 1910; she is 13. I do not know what happened to her.

Descendants of Ellen Louisa Fay
(Sixth Generation)

The first name of "Mr. Howard" is provided by the Herrick book, as is the date of their marriage, which was his second marriage. The book also shows four children, while Orlin only includes three. I have added Nellie Louisa to the list. She does not appear in any of the census lists. My guess is that she was born in 1865 and both she and her mother died then. John Howard seems to have married for a third time after Ellen's death.

Descendants of Caroline Matilda Fay
(Sixth Generation)

Caroline died in 1867, and Rollin was remarried by 1870, this time to Lizzie L.--probably Elizabeth Lydia. He may have been a musician to begin with, but he did many different things over time, including running a large boarding house [1880]. He appears with Caroline and Ada in the census of 1860, and then with Ada and Olin and his new wife and child in 1870. Olin's marriage is recorded in the Vital Records of Massachusetts, where he is called the son of Rollin and Elizabeth-- a mistake, as I believe. Lawrence appears in the census of 1900, in 1910, with Chloe, who is a widow; and in 1930 with his wife Christine. He is probably the Lawrence mentioned in the social security death list as born on May 2, 1897, and died November 1981.
It was possible to track Ada Carrie, since Orlin gives her married name. She married Dennis G. Warren about 1876, and had three children with him.

Descendants of Cynthia Eugenia Fay
(Sixth Generation)

The Herrick book gives us the name of Cynthia's husband, the date of their marriage (" m. Sep. 6, 1864, S. F. Hamilton, of Chicopee, Mass."), and the names of four of their five children. The fifth was born after that book was completed. Census work produced more information, as did the Massachusetts Vital Records, which contains Mabel's marriage and the birth of the twins. The draft registration added a little information. The family stayed in Massachusetts for many years. One group moved to Rhode Island later.

Descendants of Edith Isabella Fay
(Sixth Generation)

Edith was Algernon's second wife. They lived in Massachusetts in Hampden county, and their four children were born there. By 1910, both Edith and Algernon are gone, and Warren and his three sisters are living together. By 1918, Warren has married, and in 1920, he and his wife are living not far from his three sisters, who are sharing a house. None of the four seems to have had children.

Descendants of Corydon Marcellus Fay
(Sixth Generation)

Corydon married Ida in 1879, not 1829 as Orlin writes, a simple mistake. There is a bit of evidence that Ida was Corydon's second wife. In the census of 1910, the marriage with Ida is said to be Corydon's second; and there is at least one tree that names his first wife as Eva M. Kendall, and gives a marriage date of 1873. I have not been able to confirm this. Corydon died between 1920 and 1930; Ida died after 1930. They moved from Vermont to Massachusetts to Connecticut. Maurice went out to South Dakota, while Harold went to Rhode Island. Maurice died in 1925, and Addie was left a widow with two children. I don't know what happend to Harold after 1920, nor am I absolutely sure about the two marriages. I could not trace the younger Harold, born 1901, beyond the census of 1910. By 1918, the older Harold is with Lillian.
