Mabel I. Ely
Mabel I. (Fay) Ely of Federal Street, a retired coat presser for Lesnow Manufacturing Co., in Easthampton, died Thursday at home. She was a former apple picker at Atkins Fruit Farm. Born in Belchertown, she was a lifelong resident. She was a member of Dwight Chapel. She was a former volunteer for the Amherst Survival Center, and a member of the Belchertown Senior Center. She leaves seven sons, Robert J. of Easthampton, Walter of Greenfield, Roland of Athol, Ralph of Florence, Lester of Belchertown, Richard of Holyoke and Victor Girouard of Western Massachusetts; five daughters, Rose Girouard of Western Massachusetts, Ruth Liles of Shelby, N.C., Barbara Hanneberry of Florida, Edith Cross of West Springfield, and Rita Mikalvnas of Easthampton; a brother, Harold Fay of Chicopee; two sisters, Carrie Palady of Colonie, N.Y., and Elsie Zinkham of Cleveland, Ohio; 35 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren. A graveside service will be Tuesday afternoon in Dwight Cemetery. There are no calling hours. Beers & Story Funeral Home is in charge. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, or Diabetes Foundation.
