Luke and Eunice were married in Milan, Huron County, Ohio, on March 29, 1835. They remained in Ohio for a short time, their first two children being born there. In the fall of 1839 they moved to Michigan, where Eunice bore three more children. She died at the age of 32, on June 18, 1847, in Porter, Van Buren County, Michigan. |

Luke Munger and Eunice Reed had five children (from the Munger book and the biography): |
Esther A. | b. | Milan, O., | Dec. 6, 1835 | d. Oct. 9, 1906 |
Russell V. | " | "" | Aug. 22, 1837
LaFayette | " | Porter Twp., Mich., | Jan. 27, 1840
Abner M. | " | " " " | Feb. 7, 1842
Eliza A. | " | " " " | May 14, 1844
ESTHER A. MUNGER: The presence of a death date for Esther might lead one to think that she had died unmarried, but that is not true; she married Leonard Monroe Harris (Dibean marriage list) and bore him at least 3 children; see the line below. Most of this line stayed in Michigan, but Floyd, son of Lafayette, took his family to California. I have not been able to confirm the death dates of either Flora or Esther Harris. I do not find either of them in the 1900 census. |
RUSSELL V. MUNGER: Russell's story, and that of Abner, are linked with Luke's story in Michigan. Both requested that their biography of their father be added to the Berrien Book, and it was. Three of Russell's children died young. It is not known what happened to Charlotte and Alberta. |
LAFAYETTE MUNGER was killed by lightning on August 7, 1861. |
ABNER M. MUNGER: Marrying and having children in Michigan, Abner is the subject of a separate biography in the Van Buren book. Sometime before 1900 he left Michigan, for in 1900 he and his wife are in Township 3, Fresno County, California. The two of them remain in California at least until 1930; in 1930 they are in Oakland, Alameda County, and Abner, age 88, is a retired fruit grower. |
ELIZA A. MUNGER: It was LDS that provided the name of the man she married. Further confirmation could be found by studying the civil war pension files, for Joel D. Monroe filed for a pension, and Eliza filed as widow after Joel's death. I have not obtained those files, but there is other evidence, and the identification does seem to be accurate. |
