An extensive history of this area may be found at Towns of Lewis County, Washinton. Speaking of one of the towns of Lewis County, the author Jenny Tenlen notes: "Fayette: Located west of Adna at the junction of Deep Creek and Bunker Creek. It was settled in 1864 and named for Joel H. Fay, an early settler at nearby Claquato. The post office operated from May 18, 1880 to Sept. 16, 1895 (Ramsey, p. 52)."
