Harold R. Fay
Harold R. Fay, 76, of Chicopee, a retired machinist, died Thursday in an Agawam nursing home. He worked at the former Fisk Tire Co., Clark Equipment Co. in New Haven, Conn., and Choice Vend Co. in Windsor Locks, Conn. He retired in 1982. Born and educated in Belchertown, he lived several years in Chicopee. He served with the Civilian Conservation Corps in Charlemont during the construction of Quabbin Reservoir and was an Army veteran of World War II. He served as a medical corpsman at Mitchell Field in New York, was awarded the American Theater campaign ribbon and the Victory Medal. He leaves three sons, Harold R. Jr., Donald J. and David R., all of Palmer; four daughters, Karen P. Fay of Westfield, Theresa M. King of Oxford, N.C., Cynthia M. Fontaine of Chicopee and Cheryl A. Fay of Easthampton; two sisters, Elsie Zinkham of Cleveland, Ohio, and Carrie Palady of New York State; seven grandchildren; and his former wife, Marie (Basara) Guilmette. The funeral will be Tuesday morning at Starzyk Funeral Home, with burial in the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne. Calling hours are Monday evening.
