GENERAL AFFIDAVIT

On this 28 day of September, A.D. 1897, personally appeared before me a Cl[er]k of Co. Court in and for the aforesaid County duly authorized to administer oath Cora E. Snook aged 41 years, a resident of Auburn in the County of Cayuga and State of New York well known to me to be reputable and entitled to credit, and who, being duly sworn, declared in relation to aforesaid case as follows: that I am a daughter of Emeline and Dewitt C. Skadan who was a soldier in the late war, and lived at home with my mother in Auburn N.Y. when my father Dewitt C. Skadan came home from the service in July 1865 about the time of his discharge from the service. He then looked very bad almost like a skeleton. He complained of, and was greatly disabled by chronic diarrhoea, Piles, deafness of his left ear, asthma, disease or weakness of eyes & rheumatism, and continued so to suffer and he was wholly disabled for manual labor for about fifteen years when he went to Detroit Mich to live, where he made it his home until he died, during his stay at Detroit I saw him four or five times

when he would come home on a visit for a few weeks. At each time he was still complaining of and was suffering from and greatly disabled by the aforesaid diseases, and I am informed that he continued so disabled till he died at Detroit Mich.
