Research for this line began with Harry Burt Fay, who registered for the WWI draft in the state of Washington. He, and his part of the family, had moved to Washington very soon after 1910, for he apparently married there and his first child was born there in 1912. Tracing him back, I came to A. C. Fay, who was born in Ohio, but settled in Nebraska by 1880. Identifying A. C. as Anthony C., which I was able to do conclusively with the help of the Nebraska State Census of 1885, allowed me to trace further to Edwin Dudley, who is found in Orlin.

George Howard, Harry's brother, moved to California before 1900, and his family remained there.
Mary Fay and her husband Timothy West moved to Texas; Alice and Samuel Roome to Oregon; Sarah and George Teesdale remained in Iowa. They died young, apparently, and I have not been able to find them after 1880. In 1900, Mary Teesdale, the mother of George, said that none of her 7 children were living. With her is a granddaughter, Gladys, but there is no indication of Gladys' parents.

I was able to find and trace the families of Edwin's daughters with the help of the work done by David Conover. Without his information, I would not have been able to track these branches. |
