The following account of the descendants of Johannes Firmeri / John Farmerie is derived from two sets of sources. Early generations come from primary records, including census, probate, and tombstone and burial records. More recent material comes primarily from correspondence with descendants of the specific branches.
Each level of indentation represents an additional generation of descent from the immigrant ancestor. The numbering system used provides not only the generation, but also an indication of the exact descent. In each generation, the children of a descendant are given that person's number, plus an additional digit representing the order of birth within that particular family. (Thus 513-Mary Gross, third child of 51-Nancy Farmerie, oldest child of 5-Nicholas Farmerie, who was fifth child of immigrant John.) When more than 9 children were born to a couple, then subsequent children are lettered, starting with A (i.e. 298, 299, 29A, 29B, etc.). These numbers are provided for convenience, but are subject to change if either additional children or a change in the birth order is discovered.
