bPrison or Exile /bis Sentence for a
bConvicted Woman
/bMrs bPearl Watson convicted of
Contributing to Delinquency of Boy
/bThree months in prison or eternal exile from Champaign County was the option given Mrs. Pearl Watson, known as "Short and Greasy" by Juvenile Judge H. H. Banta, when he found herguilty of contributing to the delinquency of
Robert O'Bryant, 17 year old boy, Thursday.
Mrs. Watson was found guilty upon the testi-mony of the O'Bryant ~ told a sordid tale of the temptress in his own home, and upon the testimony of Dr. R. S. Coppess, Chief of Police J. J. Powers, iDeputy Sherriff Ernest Smith, Con-stable William Bradley and upon her own con-fession.
The O'Bryant boy is a son of Mr. and Mrs. John T O'Bryant, who each were denied a divorce by Common Fleas Judge E. P. Middleton, June 24. Mrs. O'Bryant left the family fireside many months ago, and since that time her husband, two young daughters and Robert have been liv-ing alone. Mrs. Watson was a frequent visitor at the O'Bryant home here, "to keep the girls com-pany," she told the court. Robert said she brought other men, some of them married, there at night, while his father was at work.
Mr. Watson was in the court room with his wife. When the court's ultimatum was given, Mrs. Watson was quick to say she would leave the county. Turning to her husband she'asked "You'll go with me won't you Pearl?" But Pearl made no reply.
Judge Banta said he would give them time to talk it over before naming the institution in which Mrs. Watson is to be imprisoned if she is averse to being exiled. A short time later, Mrs Watson reported that she would leave the county at once, the same day even, and she was released under a suspended sentence.
