�b�Death of Joshua Evilsizer�/b�
Joshua Evilsizer died Thursday night at 9:30 o'clock , Jan 10, 1907 a fter an illness of several years duration. The funeral service was he ld at the home on West Ohio Street, Saturday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock con ducted by Rev J W Laster of the Baptist Church. The burial was at Oak Hill .
Joshua Evilsizer was born in Indiana December 22, 1839 and at the ti me of his death, was but a few days over 68 years of age. He moved with h is parents to bates County when Montevalley now in Vernon County was in th is county. His father set out the first orchard in Montevally then ju st a trading post. Later with his parents, he moved to Ray County we re he resided with them until the breaking out of the Civil War. He then e nlisted in the Second Missouri Cavalry well known as Merrills Horse at Chi llicothe, Mo. He was wounded in battle and later discharged on accou nt of disability, at Benton Barracks, May 18,1862. He was married at Nashv ille, IL, August 4, 1862 and with his bride came direct to Missouri whe re he has since resided except two years he spent in Kansas. He has resid ed in this city a little over 20 years.
He was the father of ten children, six of whom with the wife and moth er survive his death. Those living are Mrs. John Hutchinson, Mrs Jennie Fo ster, T S Evilsizer, and Mrs Ida Valentine all of this city. Mrs Lata Clin kinbeard and Mrs Myrtle Henderson of Nevada. A sister and her husband, Mr and Mrs John Emory of Braymer, Mo were here to attend the funeral se rvice.
Until his health failed, Mr Evilsizer was somewhat prominent in loc al affairs. He was well known among the old soldiers in the section as a m ember of the Grand Army of the Republic an active member in the local soci ety. Politically he was a republican and was always active in party affair s. He was a man well respected and esteemed by his neighbors and friends a nd was well known by the older settlers of the county. He was a good citiz en, a loyal friend and a kind neighbor and his death will be mourned wi th sincere regret by a large circle of friends, and acquaintances who kn ew him well for these many years.
