John Ford served in William Neely's Company of Infantry, 7th Regiment of Virginia Militia commanded by Lt. Col. David Saunders - drafted from Hampshire County, VA 9 Aug 1814 for six months. Discharged at Norfolk 22 Feb 1815. He received a warrant for 80 acres (ctf. 8918) in 1850 and also 80 acres (ctf. 21978) in 1855, he also applied for a pension in 1871 \endash no record found that he rec'd. it. (Liza P. Ruden has this info from Nat. Archives, also a copy of his discharge papers
