The Everett House was located on the NW corner of Genesee and Franklin. In later years there was a Cunningham Drug store there. At the far end of the block you can see the Eddy Building which is still there on the NE corner of Genesee & Washington. The buildings in the next block (100 blk E. Genesee, north side of street) is where the Second National Bank was built. It hasn't yet been built in this picture. The Everett House was the scene of the first policeman to be murdered, Deputy Marshall Charles Ring, being murdered by unknown persons at the front entrance of the building. - Freeman Coats
