Jonathan David Barber, son of Jonathan Barber and mother unknown, was born at Maple Hill, Ontario County, N.Y., April 4, 1823 according to his obituary. But, his death certificate states he was born in Pennsylvania. He was converted in his youth and became a member of the United Brethren Church. Jonathan married Adaline Burns of Cameron, Stuben Co., New York on November 16, 1845.
Jonathan and Adaline Barber gave birth to four children; Mary Jane b. September 1, 1842 in Steuben County, New York, William H. Barber b. September 08, 1852 b. in New York, Alice Clarrisa Barber b. July 26, 1869 in Fayette, Michigan, and Francis M. Barber b. March abt. 1860 in Michigan.
Jonathan and Adeline were living in Stueben County, New York in 1842 and the family was living in Jefferson, Hillsdale Co., Michigan in 1880.
Upon moving to St Charles they united with the M.E. Church. Jonathan was a Sunday School leader for a number of years. On account of his age and poor health in later years he was not permitted to attend church for several years before his death. Adeline died October 07, 1892 of Consumption in Brant and Jonathan died of Apoplexy in Brant at his daughter’s home on October 11, 1905. His funeral was held from the Free Methodist church of Brant on October 13, 1905 with the Rev. D.H. Keyes officiating. Adeline is buried in the St. Charles Cemetery. I believe Jonathan is buried there also but does not have a headstone.

Barber married Robert Ross and they had five children; Verne, Grace,
Ellsworth, Jesse, and Clarence. After
the death of her first husband she married a second time to Elmer A. Hulett.
Frances M. Barber married Jeannie Shong. They bore four children Clarence C., Medena, Adeline, and Elmer. Francis died June 14, 1959.
Adeline Barber married Oscar James Condon. They had four children; Milford Sylvan, Norman Davis, James Winshouse, and Pansey Joy.
Meda Barber was born November 3, 1900 in Saginaw, Michigan, she married Laurence D. Pease in Saginaw in 1916. They had 11 children: David, Dorothy, Evelyn, Mable, Alice, Richard, Arthur, Mary Ann, Anna J., Pearl Lois, and Frank. Meda died March 23, 1973 in Brant Twp., Saginaw Co., Michigan.
