March 22, 1895 - May 22, 1956
Albert served in WWI in Russia. While in the military Bert's mother , Delena died. When he returned home he found his young 12 year old sister with no food or clothing or means of taking care of herself. Her father William was an alcoholic and spent most of his money on liquor. Bert insisted his father give him money to get items to furnish her needs. William refused and an argument broke out. Bert tussled his father to the ground taking his money to care for his sister before he drank it away. From then on he took care of Florence until she married in 1924. Albert married his wife Caroline Berka November 21, 1923. He later became a postal carrier for the U.S. Post office in Saginaw.
