Hearth Tax 1664

The Hearth Tax was imposed between the years 1662 - 1689 but the 1664 is the most complete record for Cornwall.  The Hearth Tax was a list of occupants and the number of hearths in each property.  The Tax was two shillings for each hearth.  This transcription was done by Carol Hughes from "Cornwall Hearth & Poll Taxes" edited and published by T L Stoate 1981.
