St. Michael's is a medieval church in red sandstone, situated on the edge of the Forest of Dean. It has a Perp south-west tower of two stage with diagonal buttresses on the west, and a stair-vice on the south. There is a chancel, nave, south aisle and south porch. The south arcade is 14th C with octagonal piers. The font is mid 15th C - an octagonal bowl with a large band of quatrefoils in lozenges, and below, incised shields with free-miners' and smiths' emblems, as well as more noble arms, Buckingham, Warwick, and Serjeaunt. There is stained glass in the church by Bryans, 1911; and jumbled fragments of good 14th C glass, possibly St. Catherine, in the north chancel window.
