Simpler Then

Fishes swimming in the brook,
On the bridge we stand and look.
Apples growing by the road,
Trying to catch a slippery toad.
Farmers working in the field,
Women picking up the yield.
Clear Blue Skies on Summer days.
In the Winter deep snow lays.
Building camps and climbing trees,
Scaling fences, scuffing knees,
Riding bikes, playing games,
People calling us rude names.
Playing on the slides and swings
Gloves tied 'round your neck with strings!
Kicking footballs in the park
From early morning until dark
Conkers stolen from the trees,
I remember all of these.
I wish I could go back again.
Things were really Simpler Then.
