About John Knox Conoley:
CONOLEY, Knox of Thorndale area. Age 89. Died 8/2/1971 (Monday) in a Taylor Nursing home after several
months illness. Services held (Wed.) from Condra Memorial Chapel in Taylor. Burial in the Conoley Cemetery
near the church his late father founded. Rev. Nelson Herod, pastor of the Trinity Methodist Church officiated.
Mr. Conoley was very astute in his thinking, and was well versed on church and political viewpoints.
He was BORN 12/29/1881. During his life he followed the vocation of farming and ginning. Took an active
part in the life of his community until ill health curtailed him. He was a member of the Presbyterian
Church. SURVIVORS: Wife, Mrs. Jo H. Conoley of Thorndale; 2 daughters, Mrs. Clyde Faustina and Mrs.
Eddie Henke of Corpus Christi; 3 sons, Lyle Conoley of Thorndale, Blake Conoley of Irving and Harold
Conoley of Hurst; 2 sisters, Mrs. E.G. Stiles of Thorndale and Mrs. Grace Wilder of Brady; 8 grandchildren;
5 great-grandchildren; a number of nieces, nephews and a large circle of friends. SS Death Benefit

held (Thursday) from Condra Memorial Chapel in Taylor. Burial in the Conoley Cemetery near Thorndale.
Rev. Fritz Lang, pastor of the Trinity United Methodist Church, Thorndale, officiated. Soloist was a
grandson, Dr. Don Lewis. Mrs. Conoley was BORN 1/12/1886 in Gadsden, AL., but had lived near Thorndale
most of her life. After her husband passed away in 8/2/1971, Mrs. Conoley resided in a rest home in
Bryan for most of the intervening time. SURVIVORS: 2 daughters, Mrs. Clyde Faustina and Mrs. Ed Henke
of Corpus Christi; 3 sons, Lyle of Thorndale, Blake C. of Tyler and Harold of Hurst; 8 grandchildren
and 8 great-grandchildren; sister, Emma Tucker of Arizona. SS Death Benefit on #456-86-9774 under name
of Jo Conoley.
