BAYTOWN-Services for Gerald (Jerr y) David Eiland, 71, of Hearne were held Tuesday, April 5, 2011, at Earthman Funeral Home in Baytown with Dave Dodson, brother-in-law, officating. Burial was in San Jacinto Memorial Park in Houston.

Mr. Eiland died April 2 at his home in Hearne after a lengthy battle with cancer.

He was born May 13, 1939, in Rockdale to Emmett David and Margie (Whitley) Eiland.

He married Evelyn Bowdoin on June 11, 1960, in Greens Bayou.

Mr. Eiland worked at Armco Steel in Greens Bayou and retired from Armco Steel and Texas New Mexico Power Plant in Hammon, near Bremond.

He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant brother, James W. Eiland.

Survivors are his wife, Evelyn Eiland of Hearne; two sons, David Keith Eiland and wife Theresa of Dayton, Jeffrey David Eiland of Channelview; two grandsons, Corey Dav id and Cameron Keith Eiland of Dayton; a granddaughter, Shelby Nicole Eiland of Day ton; three sisters, Eva Bowdoin and husband J. L. of Channelview, Barbara Dodson and husband Dave of Huffman, Patricia Bass and husband Don of The Woodlands; three aunts, Helen Eiland Newman of Perryton, Maudell ( Whitley) Eiland and Bonnie ( Whitley) Stuermer, both of Humble; two brothers-in-laws, Donald Bowdoin of North Shore, Bobby Bowdoin and wife Emma of Rockdale; and a cousin Marie Gest and husband Billy of Rockdale; also, three nephews and six nieces.

Pallbearers were Corey and Cameron Eiland, Bobby and Rusty Bowdoin, Damon Martin and Randy Thompson. Honorary pallbearers were J. L . Bowdoin, Dave Dodson, Don Bass, Donald and Bobby Bowdoin and Billy Gest. Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society.
