John W.
Eiland, 83, of 206 Alhambra Ave., a former Taft, Kern County, transfer company employe, died today in
a local hospital. Eiland entered the hospital Monday for surgery for an internal ailment.
A
native of Texas, he came to California around 1890 with his parents and settle din San Luis Obispo County.
He later moved to Fresno and then to Taft in 1908.
He operated the Taft Transfer Co. for 30 years
before selling the business and returning to Fresno about 25 years ago.
He is survived by his
widow, Mabel; two sons, Murray and Wesley, both of Taft; a daughter, Mrs. Katherine Kloppenberg of Sacramento;
a stepdaughter, Mrs. Mina Gray of Fresno a brother, Elble, and two sisters, Mrs. Grace Neal and Mrs.
Mary Palmer, all of Fresno; 12 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will
be held Monday at 2:30 p.m. in the Stephens Memorial Chapel. Burial will be in the Belmont Memorial
Park.
