About Antone W Gest:
Rockdale Reporter, Thur., 16 Mar 2006 Antone W. Gest, 88, of the Gay Hill Community near Rockdale,
died Wednesday, March 8, 2006 at his home in Gay Hill. Graveside service was held 2 p.m., Friday, March
10 at the Gest Family Cemetery near Rockdale with Rev. Nita Newman of Pleasant Retreat United Methodist
Church.
Mr. Gest, farmer and rancher, was born May 1, 1917 in Rockdale to F.W. and Selma (Drescher)
Gest. He married Mary Elizabeth Smith on Oct. 11, 1953 in Thorndale at the Methodist Church. Mr.
Gest, veteran of World War II, serving in the United States Army, attended Thorndale Methodist Church.
He
was preceded in death by his brother, Alfred L. Gest; sister, Ruby Eiland; great granddaughter, Maggie
Schneider; parents. Survivors include his wife, Mary E. ?Beth? Gest of Rockdale; son, Luke Gest and
wife Mary of Rockdale; brother, Walter Gest and wife Dolores of Rockdale; four sisters, Leona Bland
and husband Nolan of Rockdale, Hilda McVoy and husband Adolph of Rockdale, Katie Jackson and husband
Robert of Rockdale and Thelma Scruggs and husband Bobby of Laneport; five grandchildren, Monica Donahue
of Rogers, Cheryl Schneider and husband Richard of Thorndale, Eric Morton of Caldwell, Misty Morton
of Thorndale and Marcus Gest of Rockdale; eight great-grandchildren; also survived by a number of nieces
and nephews.
Pallbearers included Nolan Bland Jr., Terry Jackson, Gary Ring and Walter L. Gest.
