About Gladys L Biggs:
Gladys L. Montgomery, 88, of Lebanon, died Tuesday morning, June 20, 2006, at St. John?s Hospital-Springfield.
She
was born June 28, 1917, near Phillipsburg, Mo., to Francis ?Frank?? Marshall and Rosa Zetta Kissee Biggs.
On March 3, 1934, she married Woodrow Thomas Montgomery, who preceded her in death on Dec. 20, 1986.
She
also was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Charley and Lavern Biggs; and five sisters,
Ada Minkler, Ruby McAllister, Edna Mullican, Kathleen Kruger, and Dorothy Mosier.
In addition
to being a devoted and hardworking homemaker to her family, Gladys also worked at the Rice Stix Factory
for several years, and then as a cook at Donnelly Elementary School for a number of years. She was
one of the co-founders of First Free Will Baptist Church in Lebanon, where she had sung in the choir,
been a Sunday School teacher, served as church clerk and as a deacon?s wife.
Survivors include
a daughter and son-in-law, Freida and Jim Hays, of Lebanon; two grandchildren, Debbie Lockwood and her
husband, Mike, of Springfield; Monty Hays and his wife, Aimee, of Lebanon; four great-grandchildren,
Brooks, Brady, Avery and Libbee; two sisters, Bonnie Stansbarger, of Lebanon and Ethel Irish, of Overland
Park, Kan.; also a number of nieces and nephews.
Services for Gladys L. Montgomery will be held
at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 24, 2006, in the First Free Will Baptist Church of Lebanon with the Revs.
Roger Harwell and Joe Wilson officiating.
Burial will be in Mount Rose Memorial Park, under the
direction of Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Lebanon.
Visitation will be from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Friday
in the funeral home.
A memorial has been established to the First Free Will Baptist Church Family
Life Center and may be made through Holman-Howe Funeral Home.
