About Thomas Campbell McCoy:
McCOY, Sr., Thomas C. of Thorndale. Age 46. Died 6/4/1952 (Wed.) when his car overturned about a quarter
of a mile from his home near Thorndale. Services held (Friday) 6/6 from the Phillips & Luckey Chapel
in Rockdale. Burial in Forest Grove Cemetery near Rockdale.
He was BORN in 1906 and he was a
farmer. He had gone into town following the evening meal to pick up some tractor parts and apparently
was on his way home when the accident occurred. A passersby who found the overturned car recognized
it as belonging to McCoy and notified his family. His children found his body under the car. Relatives
said it was presumed he lost control of the car in some deep ruts in the road and was thrown from the
vehicle as it turned over. Accident happened 1/4 mile from the McCoy home near Fairfield school and
about 6 miles southeast of Thorndale. Preceded in death by son, Tommy, Jr., 17, who died 3/1951; brother,
Barney McCoy, was killed in the Texas City explosion in 1947.
SURVIVORS: Wife; 3 children, Johnny,
James and Anna, all at home; mother, Mrs. Dollie McCoy of Rockdale; 3 brothers, Ed of Rockdale, Melvin
of Austin and Hardy of Galveston; 3 sisters, Mrs. Will Sides of Rockdale, Mrs. Hollis Mason of Galveston
and Mrs. Dewey Rose of Heidenheimer.
About Maurine Jackson:
TAYLOR - Funeral services for Maurine Jackson McCoy, 94, of Taylor were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March
25, 2009, at Condra Funeral Home Chapel in Taylor with Rev. Bill Ward officiating. Burial followed at
Forest Grove Cemetery near Rockdale.
Mrs. McCoy died Sunday, March 22, 2009, in a Round Rock
hospital. She was born Oct. 23, 1914, to John and Anner (Amason) Jackson in Laneport. She married
Tom McCoy on July 29, 1932. Mrs. McCoy was a lifelong resident of the Thorndale/Taylor area. She was
a member of Northview Christian Church in Taylor. Mrs. McCoy was a custodian for the State School and
the University of Texas for over 20 years. She enjoyed reading.
Mrs. McCoy was preceded in death
by her parents; her husband, Tom; a son, Tommy McCoy Jr.; two grandsons, James Morgan Bratton and Michael
Lynn McCoy; a great-great-grandchild, Camry Abegglen; three brothers and four sisters.
Survivors
are a daughter, Beth Bratton of Lexington; two sons, Hershel McCoy of Thorndale, Johnny McCoy of Ranier,
Washington; and a sister, Bernice Owen of Austin; also, seven grandchildren, three step-grandchildren,
nine great-grandchildren, four step-great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers
were James McCoy, Kevin McCoy, William Jordan, Sean McCoy, Richard Kocian, Roger Kole McCoy and Rowdy
McCoy. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

McCOY, Jr., Thomas C. of Thorndale. Age 17. Died 3/30/1951 (Friday) in a Taylor hospital after a lengthy
illness. Services held at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale. Burial in Forest Grove Cemetery
near Rockdale. Rev. H.E. Crone of Temple officiated.
He was BORN in 4/12/1933 in Lee Co, TX and
a member of the 1950 graduating class of Thorndale High School.

McCoy; 2 brothers, Herschiel and Johnny; sister, Anna Beth.
