About Mary Allen Hitchcock:

The following article appeared in a local newspaper at Mary King's death and was written by Emma Crumpler: On the night of August 28, 1904, when the countless thousands of untroubled souls were enjoying the blessings of physical rest, when the whole universe seemed to praise in their slumber, the God who proclaimed to the world, "Peace on Earth, Goodwill toward man," Death, the common foe of all mankind, came and claimed for its victim, Mrs. Mary Allen King (nee Hitchcock) born October 28, 1831

She was converted and joined the M.E. Church South in 1864, was married when quite young to Robert King. Sixteen children were born to their union, six have preceded her to the better world; eight are still living who will miss the sweet presence of mother. What a happy meeting that must have been of husband and children when her sweet spirit was wafted into their presence
