About Charles Gibson:
GIBSON, Sr., Charles of Conoley Comm. Age 69. Died ?/1968 (Tuesday). Services held (Friday) at Condra
Memorial Chapel in Taylor. Burial in Salty Cemetery. Rev. Clyde Majors, pastor of the Hutto Baptist
Church, officiated. He was BORN the son of Friend and Nancy Broadway Gibson on 7/26/1891 in Montgomery,
AL. At the age of 9, he and his family moved to the Conoley Comm. south of Thorndale where he lived
all his life except for 18 months in the McCloskey hospital in Temple. Married Miss Ellie Rae Caffey
on 12/17/1919, who preceded him in death on 11/24/1952. Charlie as he was known, was a farmer. Member
of the Methodist Church for many years. Member of the Emil Hengst American Legion Post. Veteran of WW-1,
serving with the 36th Division,he saw action in France. SURVIVORS: 2 sons, Charles Gibson, Jr. and
Grady Ray Gibson, both of Houston; 2 grandsons; 2 granddaughters.
