His parents died before he was 10 years old and
he was taken in by an uncle. He came to Troup, Smith Co, Texas as a young man. He married in 1878
and by the 1880 census he was in Denton, Co, Tx In 1881 he was ordained a Baptist minister and in 1889
moved to Shady Grove, Baylor Co, Tx as a missionary for the Red Fork Association. From 1895-1897 he
was the pastor or the First Baptist Church in Haskell and the Gillespie Baptist Church in Gillespie.
He bought a farm near Gillespie. The family moved to Benjamin in 1898 and Randolph became the pastor
of the Benjamin, Vera, Truscott and Gilliland churchs performing services one a month in each church.
