Fulton Fuller Popwell Birth: Jan. 28, 1893, Clanton, Chilton County, Alabama, USA Death: Jan.
1, 1968, Collingsworth County, Texas, USA A heart attack at his home Monday night, January 1, took
the life of F F Popwell, widely known farmer in this area for almost 40 years. He was 73 years of age,
and his death occured at 10:50 pm. Although be had a heart ailment for a number of years, Mr Popwell's
death was entirely unexpected, and earlier in the day he had been to his farm to look after livestock,
a member of his family said. The family home is at 1106 Dalhart Street.
Fulton Fuller Popwell
was born at Clanton, Alabama, January 28, 1894, the son of Moses and Joyce Downs Popwell. He was still
a young man when he came to the Vinson area where he lived for a number of years, then came to the Midway
community east of Wellington. Over a long period of time, he took a leading part in the community's
life. He served on the school board for a number of years and he was a deacon in the Midway Baptist
Church. For several years he had lived in Wellington. Mr Popwell was married to Miss lona Carpenter
on January 14, 1920, at Vinson.
Funeral services were conducted at First Baptist Church in Wellington
at 2:30 pm Wednesday, January 3. Officiating were the Rev Leroy Gaston, pastor, the Rev Bill Bruce of
Foss, Oklahoma, and the Rev Charlie Abercrombie of Wheeler. Burial was in Independence Cemetery in Oklahoma
under the direction of Kelso Funeral Home. Pallbearers were Rolan Bryan, John L. Green, Floyd Chandler,
Earl Jones, Boyd Derryberry and Clarence Wilbur.
Surviving Mr Popwell are his wife, Mrs lona
Popwell of Wellington; one son, Leo Popwell of Wellington and a daughter, Mrs Thelma Rogers of Amarillo.
There are 9 grandchildren and two greatgrandchildren.

Funeral
services for Loyd Popwell, fourteen year old son of Mr. and Mrs. F. F. Popwell of the Midway community,
were held Friday afternoon at Independence, near Vinson, Oklahoma. The youth died at his home Thursday,
October 20, after a serious illness of several weeks. An operation and treatment at Eureka Springs,
Arkansas failed to improve his condition.
Born February 29, 1924 at Vinson, Oklahoma, Loyd Moses
Popwell was fourteen years, seven months and twenty-one days of age at the time of his death. For the
last nine years he had lived at Midway, and until shortly before his death was a student in the school
there. He was one of the outstanding youths of his community and all who knew the boy loved and respected
him.
He is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. F. F. Popwell, a brother and sister, Thelma
Popwell and Leo Popwell, his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. C. O. Carpenter of Vinson, and a number of aunts,
